Attendance

Not attending — catching dropouts early

See which students have quietly stopped coming, and reach them before they are gone.

The problem it solves

Students rarely announce that they are leaving. They just stop coming. By the time you notice, it has been six weeks and the conversation is awkward.

Attendance → Not attending lists students who have stopped showing up, so you find out in week two instead.

What you see

Each student on the list shows:

  • Their name and batch
  • How long they have been absent
  • Whether you have already reached out, and how many times

If nobody is drifting, the page says so. An empty list here is good news, not a broken screen.

What you can do

Message on WhatsApp — opens WhatsApp with the student's number. It goes from your own number, so the reply comes back to your phone.

Dismiss — removes them from the list. Use it when you already know why, and the absence is expected.

Open the student — jumps to their full profile for history and fee status before you decide what to say.

Reaching out more than once

The list keeps count of how many times you have contacted someone.

Once you have messaged twice with no response, treat it as an answer. Continuing to message a student who has decided to leave costs you goodwill and gets you nothing.

At that point, mark them Left in their student record so your numbers reflect reality.

Dismiss versus Left

Dismiss — you have handled it, no further prompting needed. The student stays Active. Use it for someone on a known break: exams, injury, travel.

Mark as Left — done on the student record. Use it when they have actually gone.

Dismissing everyone to clear the list defeats the point. It is a list of people worth a message, not an inbox to empty.

What actually works

The studios that keep students do not send better messages. They send earlier ones.

A short message in week two — "Haven't seen you in class, everything okay?" — reads as noticing. The same message in week eight reads as chasing money.

Students with no phone number

Anyone without a phone number shows a note instead of the message button. Add the number to their profile and the option appears.
